II Timonthy 3:16
All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction , for instruction in righteousness.
II Timothy 2:15
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Good Friday?

Today is the day that many refer to as “Good Friday,” traditionally held as the day of the Lord Jesus Christ’s crucifixion. What saith the Scriptures?

Fact #1: In Matthew 12, the Lord Jesus Christ gave the Pharisees the sign of Jonah. Christ was to spend 3 days and 3 nights in the center of the Earth before being resurrected.  Are there 3 days and 3 nights between Friday and Sunday?  No, you could possibly stretch it to make it 3 days and 2 nights.

Fact #2: The Pharisees demand that Christ’s legs be broken to speed up his death because the holy Sabbath was fast approaching (John 19:31).  The reckoning of a day according to Jewish time was from 6 pm to 6 pm.  This holy Sabbath was part of the feast of Unleavened bread and not the regular weekly Sabbath.  The Roman guards knowing he was already dead, did not break his legs.

Fact #3: A number of women had watched Joseph of Arimathaea entomb Christ as the holy Sabbath drew on.  They went home, prepared spices, and then rested on the weekly Sabbath (Luke 23:55,56).  When did they have time to buy and prepare the spices and still rest on the Sabbath day if Christ was crucified on Friday?

Fact #4: The Roman guards were not immediately placed at the tomb of Christ after his crucifixion. So when did the Pharisees request the Roman guards to guard the tomb if Christ was crucified on Friday and no work could be done on the Sabbath?

The Scriptures show clearly that Christ could not have been crucified on Friday. But the fact remains, that Christ, God in human flesh did die, and He died for your sins.  It is only through His death, burial and resurrection that a person can have eternal life.  Are you trusting in Him for your eternal destiny?
